Every day at noon, hillandglen.com records what 7 global weather models predicted for these 100 locations. The next day, we compare those predictions against observed weather data to produce accuracy scores.
Locations were chosen to represent the full diversity of UK and Irish weather — high mountains, sheltered valleys, exposed coasts, and major cities. This prevents any single model from gaming the score by being good in one region only.
Observed weather comes from the Open-Meteo Archive API, powered by ECMWF’s ERA5 reanalysis — the same gold-standard benchmark used by national meteorological services. It combines real weather station readings, satellite and radar data into a complete hourly record at every coordinate.
