Merlin's grave, Drumelzier. The hawthorn tree shown here was planted in 1996 after an earlier one was washed away in a flood in 1928. The old maps show Merlin's grave in a field some 135m (440ft) to the NE, where the merlin trail panel is. The hawthorn has a long association with paganism.
